Frankfort house fire 11-22-11

Karl Klotz captured a fire incident this afternoon in Frankfort. Here's his report: Frankfort, Illinois – November 22, 2011: A two-story, frame home on Rosewood Drive was fully involved in flames, with the fire originating in the garage area. Frankfort Truck Co. 2 was the first to arrive and found the front of the house engulfed. Firefighters launched an aggressive defensive attack before entering the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured, but several cats were safely rescued from the burning home. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan also responded to the scene. The fire caused significant damage, particularly to the front portion of the house. Crews worked diligently to control the blaze and ensure all hot spots were extinguished. Several firefighters were seen ventilating the rear of the building and working on cooling down the affected areas. One firefighter from Frankfort Engine Co. 3 managed to rescue a cat from inside, though it later escaped from its cage before being recaptured. Additional photos show the aftermath, with the front of the house partially collapsed and firefighters continuing their efforts to put out the remaining embers. The images also capture the dedication of emergency responders, including those from Matteson who assisted in rescuing more animals. A full gallery of photos is available for viewing.
