Huazhong Agricultural University develops rapeseed no-till live broadcast machine
Huazhong Agricultural University has recently introduced an innovative no-tillage direct seeding machine for rapeseed, marking a significant advancement in agricultural technology. This advanced machine is capable of performing multiple operations in one pass, including rotary tilling, fertilizing, sowing, furrowing, and soil covering. It offers notable benefits such as improved planting efficiency, reduced fertilizer usage, and labor savings. The machine addresses critical technical challenges in the no-tillage sowing of rapeseed in paddy fields, representing a major breakthrough in agronomic machinery.
Developed by a research team led by Dr. Liao Qingxi, the machine was part of the "11th Five-Year" National Science and Technology Support Program's "Low Five" Rapeseed High-Yield and Efficient Cultivation Technology Research and Demonstration Project. The device was first tested in rice paddies at the experimental demonstration base in Shayang County, Hubei Province, in September this year.
On November 21st and 22nd, Professor Wu Jiangsheng from the College of Plant Science and Technology, along with Dr. Zhou Guangsheng and Dr. Liao Qingxi from the School of Engineering and Technology, visited Hubei’s Shayang, Zhongxiang, and Tianmen areas to inspect the progress of the National Science and Technology Support Program. The team focused on the demonstration site for no-tillage rapeseed cultivation in paddy fields, highlighting the practical application and effectiveness of the new technology.
This development not only enhances the efficiency of rapeseed farming but also supports sustainable agricultural practices, especially in regions where paddy fields are commonly used for crop rotation. The successful field trials indicate promising potential for widespread adoption, contributing to both productivity and environmental conservation in the agricultural sector.
