Karl Klotz captured a fire incident this afternoon in Frankfort. Here's his detailed report:
On November 22, 2011, at 20111 Rosewood Drive, Frankfort Truck Company 2 arrived to find a two-story frame home heavily involved in flames on the front side. The fire appeared to have originated in the garage area. Firefighters launched an aggressive defensive attack before entering the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured, but several cats were successfully rescued from the burning home. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan also responded to the scene.
The images show the aftermath of the fire, with the front of the house partially collapsed. Firefighters from Frankfort Tower 5 were seen ventilating the rear of the building, while others worked to extinguish hot spots. One of the first units on the scene, Frankfort Truck 2, was positioned in front of the house. Members from Engine Companies 1 and 3 were actively working to cool down the area and ensure the fire was fully under control.
A firefighter from Engine Company 3 managed to remove one of the family’s cats from the house, although it later escaped from its cage and ran away before being re-captured. Another cat was safely taken out by a Matteson firefighter, and a final feline was assisted by a Frankfort firefighter to reach safety. The garage area, where the fire began, was clearly visible as firefighters worked to put out the remaining flames.
