Fires in Long Grove and Barrington 7-13-13

Two Lake County (Division 4) departments responded to small fires on a hot Saturday afternoon.

The Long Grove Fire District was called to a smoke incident at 2316 Nichols Road in unincorporated Cook County at 3:30 PM. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a first-floor storage room, which they quickly extinguished. They then conducted a full building search for any signs of fire spread in the three-story apartment complex. Additional units from Lake Zurich, Buffalo Grove, Palatine, Barrington, and the Palatine Rural Fire Protection District were also dispatched as mutual aid.

The Barrington Fire Department responded to a fire at 4:30 PM involving a fence near a building at 171 Walton Street. The flames spread to the adjacent structure and posed a risk to a commercial building across the street, as well as overhead power lines. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Mutual aid units arrived from East Dundee, Palatine Rural, Cary, and Fox River Grove.

It was a busy day for emergency responders in the area, with two separate incidents requiring quick action. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and both fires were brought under control before significant damage could occur. Local residents are advised to remain cautious during hot weather and to be aware of potential fire hazards around their homes.
