Delfast TopCop electric bikes being tested by the US police

Delfast Inc. is a well-known name in the electric bike industry, and its latest model, the TopCop, has been making waves in law enforcement circles. Recently, the Brevard Police Department had the opportunity to test the Delfast TopCop electric bike before considering a full purchase. The results were impressive, with both officers and leadership expressing strong interest in the vehicle. The testing process began with two trained officers who conducted operations training on the TopCop. However, many more officers showed enthusiasm for the e-bike, eager to try it under supervision at the department’s parking lot. Chief of Police J. Phil Harris remarked, “I now have about half of my patrol officers asking to be bike trained so they can ride this bike on duty. We are fans.” Officers noted that the TopCop is user-friendly, even for those without prior experience with e-bikes. It performed exceptionally well when climbing hills, maintaining speed and power throughout. One of the key advantages highlighted was the bike's quiet operation, which allows officers to approach suspects undetected. As one officer put it, “You wouldn’t know someone was riding near you until you actually see it.” At the Brevard Police Department, the TopCop has proven to be a versatile tool. Officer Ronnie shared, “I believe we could utilize the bikes in a number of different ways that we can’t necessarily do on a traditional patrol bike.” He described how he used the TopCop to cover 4.3 miles during an emergency call, arriving faster than patrol cars and without getting out of breath. The bike also offers ample storage space for essential equipment like ticket books and supplies. Additionally, the TopCop enhances downtown patrols with its bright lights and siren system, making it effective for nighttime operations. In residential areas, where narrow streets make car patrols challenging, the e-bike offers superior maneuverability. Officer Ronnie explained, “With the e-bike, we could have a lidar-certified officer calling out speeding vehicles to an officer on the e-bike and by utilizing the lights and siren on the bike, we could conduct traffic stops.” Citizens also responded positively to the TopCop. During a routine patrol, Officer Ronnie encountered a woman who was very interested in the bike and seemed impressed by its design and performance. In conclusion, Officer Ronnie said, “I think these bikes would be a great asset to the department and would be greatly utilized in a number of ways.” With its efficiency, versatility, and positive reception, the Delfast TopCop is proving to be more than just a trend—it's a promising new tool for modern policing.
