In 2004, the "China Auto Model of the Year" award was announced by Sina Auto News on December 22nd. The Mazda 6 impressed the judges with its stylish design, high-quality craftsmanship, comprehensive features, strong performance, and competitive pricing. Its sporty look and dynamic driving feel aligned with global trends, while its handling and stability tests placed it among the best in its class. Additionally, the vehicle featured advanced safety systems, including airbags and electronic driver assistance.
For Changfeng Liebao Feiteng, the award highlighted its excellence in various areas, such as manufacturing quality, powertrain integration, off-road capability, safety, fuel efficiency, and interior space. It topped the SUV group in handling and braking tests, and its off-road performance was particularly impressive. As an economic yet capable SUV, it played a significant role in shaping consumer preferences and setting a benchmark for affordable performance.
Unlike simple comparisons based on test data, this annual selection aimed to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of different models from a market perspective. The goal was to fairly recognize the most successful and well-rounded vehicles in their respective segments. The selection process was inspired by the North American "Car of the Year" award, which has been held for over 50 years by *Motor Trend* magazine. Known for its credibility and rigor, the award is often compared to the Oscars of the automotive world.
