The Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to a multi-vehicle collision involving four cars on Milwaukee Avenue at Busch Parkway just before noon today. The accident, which resulted in airbag deployment, was reported shortly after the morning rush hour. Due to its proximity to the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District, that department also received the call and dispatched units to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders found six injured individuals spread across three vehicles, with one car sustaining significant damage. Both the Buffalo Grove and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods fire departments worked together to rescue and stabilize the victims. One of the most challenging extractions involved two individuals trapped inside a late-model Cadillac, requiring specialized tools and coordinated efforts from multiple crews.
An EMS Box Alarm was activated, bringing additional ambulances from nearby communities, including Wheeling, Lake Zurich, Deerfield, Mundelein, and Lake Forest. Alongside the local units already on scene, this ensured prompt medical care for all those involved.
Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro were both present at the incident, capturing the unfolding events. Tim arrived early, before the first tools were deployed, and has shared a full gallery of his photos [here]. Larry also documented the scene and has his own collection available [here].
