Stephen Wilcox has shared a detailed account and photos of another fire that took place in western Dupage County (MABAS Division 12) last month. Here's his firsthand report:
Wheaton Fire: 419 N. Ellis on June 17, 2011 at 04:47. The two-story structure, built around 1900, was a balloon frame with lath and plaster walls and knob-and-tube wiring. Upon arrival, conditions were warm and humid. The fire had spread across all floors and into the attic. Neighbors reported that they believed someone might still be inside the house. The extra alarm was dispatched for three reasons. Multiple handlines and six ground ladders were deployed. The family had just returned from the Far East.
