I just received these updates and photos from Larry Shapiro regarding an incident involving the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. This morning (June 3, 2016), they responded to 6 Villa Verde Drive for an elderly individual who had sustained a hip injury. The patient was located on the third floor of a three-story apartment building where the elevator was out of service. Due to the nature of the situation, using a stair stretcher wasn't feasible, so the team decided to use the tower ladder to safely lower the patient in a Stokes basket.
The images captured by Larry Shapiro really tell the story of how efficiently and compassionately the firefighters handled this challenging scenario. You can see the firefighters carefully maneuvering the Stokes basket down the side of the building while ensuring the patient’s safety throughout the process.
