Hey everyone,
I just got this update from Larry Shapiro about an incident involving the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. It happened earlier today (June 3, 2016), when they were called to 6 Villa Verde Drive to assist an elderly resident who had suffered a hip injury. The tricky part was that the patient was located on the top floor of a three-story apartment building, and the elevator wasn't working. Unfortunately, using a stair stretcher wasn’t an option, so the firefighters had to get creative. They ended up deploying the tower ladder to carefully lower the patient to the ground using a Stokes basket.
It’s always impressive to see how resourceful emergency responders can be in situations like these. I’ve included some photos taken by Larry Shapiro below to give you a better idea of how they managed it. You can also check out more photos on his website, shapirophotography.net.
