Chciago Level 1 Haz Mat 1-10-11

There was a **Level 1 Haz Mat incident** today at **204 N. Artesian** (Artesian and Lake) as well. People’s Gas was excavating when they accidentally struck a **4-inch medium-pressure gas line** directly beneath the **Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Green Line** running along Lake Street. The incident prompted a quick response from multiple units, including **Engine 26, Truck 7, Battalion 12, Squad 2, and 5-1-1 (Hazardous Incident Team)**. Engine 26 deployed a **2.5-inch dry line** as a precautionary measure, while Battalion 12 coordinated with the CTA to shut down the elevated train service for about **15 minutes**. People’s Gas quickly shut off the leaking section of the pipeline, preventing any further risk. The scene involved representatives from **CFD, CPD, CTA, and People’s Gas**, highlighting the collaborative effort required in such emergencies. Dan McInerney captured several photos of the event, providing a detailed visual record of the response: - The first image shows an overview of the scene, with emergency personnel from various agencies working together. - Another photo highlights **Battalion 12** as the commanding unit during the incident. - A third shot captures **Engine 26** standing by with a dry line as a safety measure. - A fourth image features **Haz Mat Unit 5-1-1** and **Squad 2** positioned under the CTA tracks. - A close-up of **Engine 26 (D-615)** reveals its unique red headlight bezels, a rare feature on a 2003 Spartan Gladiator/Crimson engine. - Another photo showcases a **CTA Emergency Response Unit**, which is dispatched citywide whenever service is disrupted. - Finally, **Truck 7**, a 2002 Pierce Dash aerial ladder, is seen staged at the scene. These images give a clear look at the coordination and professionalism displayed during this Level 1 Haz Mat incident.

PPS Sheet Rod

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), known as polyphenylene sulfide, is referred to as PPS (hereinafter referred to as polyphenylene sulfide or PPS). The molecular structure of polyphenylene sulfide is relatively simple, the main chain of the molecule consists of alternating benzene rings and sulfur atoms, a large number of benzene rings give polyphenylene sulfide rigidity, and a large number of thioether bonds provide flexibility. PPS outstanding properties are: good heat resistance, can be used in the temperature range of 200-240 ℃; corrosion resistance close to PTFE; excellent electrical properties; excellent mechanical properties; good flame retardant properties; good dimensional stability of the product, available in a variety of processing and molding methods, and can be precision molding.

Pure PPS due to the performance of brittle and rarely used alone, the application of PPS is mostly its modified performance varieties. Specifically: glass fiber reinforced PPS, glass mineral fiber reinforced PPS, carbon fiber reinforced PPS, etc.

HONYPLAS®PPS (chemical name polyphenylene sulfide) semi-finished materials, including plates, bars and pipes, can be used for machining. PPS plastic is a semi-crystalline high-temperature thermoplastic. Due to its structural characteristics, PPS materials have excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance, and can maintain material properties even at temperatures above 200°C. In addition to low water absorption, PPS plastic also has good dimensional stability and excellent electrical properties. PPS thermoplastics are very stable chemically, even at high temperatures. In the market, PPS suppliers usually provide PPS modified materials, such as PPS GF40 (40% glass fiber reinforced material).

HONYPLAS®PPS Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) exhibits excellent overall properties in chemical and high temperature environments, including wear resistance, high load capacity and dimensional stability. In addition, PPS profiles dense, good hardness and excellent chemical resistance to corrosion in a variety of industrial equipment, such as industrial drying and food processing ovens, chemical equipment, mechanical bearings and electrical insulation systems, etc. PPS profiles can be used at 220 ℃ for a long time, has not been found below 200 ℃ can dissolve PPS solvent, so PPS even at high temperatures on inorganic acids, alkalis, salts and other corrosion resistance is quite good. PPS in the case of no added flame retardants, in the UL94 flammability test for V-0/5V, is a higher level.

PPS rigidity is very high, rare in engineering plastics. Pure PPS bending modulus up to 3.8Gpa, inorganic filler modification can reach 12.6Gpa, an increase of 5 times as much.

PPS creep resistance under load, high hardness, good wear resistance, its wear at 1000 rpm is only 0.04g, filled with F4 and molybdenum disulfide will be further improved, PPS also has a certain degree of self-lubrication.
PPS mechanical properties of the temperature sensitivity can be small.

Thermal properties: PPS has excellent thermal properties, short-term resistance to 260 ℃, and can be used for a long time at 200 ℃ - 240 ℃, its heat resistance is comparable to PI, second only to F4 plastic, which is also rare in thermosetting plastics.

Electrical properties: PPS electrical properties are outstanding, compared with other engineering plastics, its dielectric constant and dielectric loss angle tangent values are relatively low, and in a wide range of frequencies, temperature machine temperature does not change much.

PPS good arc resistance, comparable to thermosetting plastics, PPS commonly used in electrical Insulation Materials, the amount can account for about 30%.

Environmental performance: one of the most important features of PPS is good chemical resistance, its chemical stability performance is second only to F4, PPS good radiation resistance.
