Hey everyone,
This just came in from Drew Gresik:
On May 27th, 2016, there was an active fire at a bungalow located at 4236 Leland Avenue. When the first engine arrived, they found heavy smoke billowing from the attic. The firefighters quickly deployed two lines and managed to open up the roof using Riverside Truck 1629. During their search efforts, they even managed to rescue a few birds that had been caught in the chaos. It seemed like the fire was primarily confined to the attic space, which is always a tricky situation. Kudos to all the companies involved for their swift and effective response.
Here’s a bit more detail from Drew himself:
"Lyons companies responded to a working fire at a bungalow on 4236 Leland Avenue on May 27th, 2016. Upon arrival, the first engine reported significant smoke coming from the attic. They immediately set up two lines and got to work opening the roof with Riverside Truck 1629. Some birds were also rescued during the search operations, and it appeared that the fire was mainly concentrated in the attic area. Great job by all the teams on the ground."
And here are some photos taken by Drew Gresik himself. You can see the fire chief on the scene, Lyons firefighters hard at work, Riverside FD Truck 1629 in action, Lyons FD Engine 1312, ladders leading up to the roof, and even some shots of the aftermath with firefighters still present.
