Around 5:30 PM on Friday, July 15th, 2016, the Berwyn Fire Department got multiple calls about a structure fire at 1236 Cuyler Avenue. By the time the first units arrived, they confirmed it was a fully involved structure fire. Quint 9Q1 was quickly moved to the front of the building to use its master stream and tackle most of the flames on the delta side. Meanwhile, Truck Company 904 was positioned right behind them to handle the fire on the alpha side. North Riverside Engine Co. 808 was auto-aided to the scene and stationed on 13th Street. Around 6 PM, Forest Park Engine Co. 402 was also dispatched and arrived shortly after, bringing their tools to the fire building.
I managed to capture some photos that show the intensity of the situation. The firefighters worked tirelessly to control the blaze, with hoses stretched across the street and emergency vehicles strategically placed. The Berwyn FD's battalion chief was on site, coordinating efforts as additional resources were brought in. It was clear that this was a coordinated effort involving multiple departments to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
The images really speak volumes about the dedication and hard work of these firefighters who put themselves in harm's way to protect others. Special thanks go out to all the first responders who helped contain the fire and keep the community safe.
