This message is from Eric Haak:
I responded to three fires on Wednesday and arrived at each one later than I would have liked. I wanted to share a few photos from each incident to honor all the firefighters who have to work in these harsh conditions. The first image shows the front of a building on the 1500 block of Kostner, which was completely covered in soot after a serious fire. A dog was rescued from that scene, as you can see in the third photo.
The third and fourth images were taken at another structure on the 9100 block of South Crandon, also a still-and-box style building. It looked like it had been burning for some time, and the damage was pretty extensive.
The last image features Engine 38, which had its second fire of the day on the 1400 block of South Ridgeway. It’s amazing how quickly they can respond and get back into action. These photos give a small glimpse into the challenges firefighters face every day—especially in extreme weather.
Looking at these images, it's clear just how tough the job is. From the thick smoke to the cold, it's no easy task. I'm grateful for the bravery and dedication of all the first responders.
