Box Alarm in LaGrange Park 7-24-12

This report comes from Josh Boyajian:

LaGrange Park experienced a box alarm this afternoon. It appeared that a power line had fallen, igniting a house and a garage across the street from each other. The scene was quickly responded to with mutual aid from departments all over the area, including a brand-new battalion buggy from Tri-State Fire Protection District and Bellwood’s new tower ladder. I managed to take a few photos, but by the time I got there, the fire had already been extinguished.

The LaGrange Patch reported:

The La Grange Park Fire Department was called to a house fire at 1401 Newbury on July 24 at 3:24 p.m. Firefighters arrived quickly and had the fire under control within 25 minutes.

Several fire departments were on the scene, including units from La Grange, Oak Brook, North Riverside, Pleasantview, Bellwood, Hinsdale, and Westmont.

It's always alarming to see such incidents, especially when they involve power lines and nearby homes. Fortunately, it seems like the quick response from multiple departments helped prevent any major damage or injuries. The presence of new equipment like the Tri-State battalion buggy and Bellwood's tower ladder shows how prepared these teams are for emergencies. As always, our thanks go out to the brave firefighters who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
