3-Alarm fire in Maywood, 8-17-16 (more)

This message comes from Steve Redick: On Wednesday (8/17/16), I responded to a fire call in Maywood. By the time I got there, it had already escalated to a third alarm, mostly due to the need for more manpower and relief. The structure appeared to be an abandoned single-story wooden house. There was significant fire visible from the outside, which seemed to have spread to a small one-story commercial building in Sector 2. When I arrived, there were plenty of firefighters actively working on the trucks, especially the ladder trucks. The situation was chaotic but under control as the teams coordinated their efforts. I managed to capture some photos and even recorded a short video of the scene. You can check out all the images and the video here: [Link to Photos and Video] The firefighting effort involved multiple departments, and everyone worked tirelessly to contain the blaze. It was impressive to see how quickly they mobilized and focused on securing the area. Here’s a quick rundown of what I observed: - Firefighters scaling the ladder trucks to reach the higher parts of the burning structure. - Crews working diligently on the ground level, ensuring the fire didn’t spread further. - A sense of urgency and teamwork among all personnel involved. Attached below are several photos taken during the incident. These images provide a glimpse into the intensity and coordination required during such emergencies. ![Firefighters Climbing Ground Ladder] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Spartan Fire Truck at Scene] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Firefighters on Aerial Ladder] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Hillside Fire Department Engine] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Firefighters Overhauling After Fire] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![E-ONE Bronto Skylift at Scene] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Firefighters Overhauling After Fire (2)] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Firefighters on Roof with Smoke] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* ![Additional Scene Photo] *Photo Credit: Steve Redick* It’s always humbling to witness the dedication of our local firefighters. Their hard work and bravery make a significant difference in situations like these. If you know anyone involved or would like to support the department, consider reaching out to them directly. Stay safe, everyone! Best regards, Steve
