Yokogawa introduced two easy-to-use economical instruments, the AQ2200-601 and AP9945, for 10Gbps bit error rate testing. The AQ2200-601 is based on the AQ2200 module platform and is suitable for laboratory and factory use, while the AP9945 is a portable device suitable for field testing.
Both instruments provide complete test capabilities for 10Gbps network, Ethernet and 10Gbps components such as transmitters, receiver optics, XFP transceivers and PIN diodes. Both devices produce pulses from 9.95Gbps to 11.32Gbps, as well as amplitude, offset, and crosspoint settings. The internal clock recovery feature runs the test without a separate clock signal.
The AP9945 can be controlled by an external PC and all functions and features can be transferred to the instrument via software. The pseudo-random bipolar sequence (PRBS) mode can be selected between PRBS 7 and PRBS 31. The AQ2200-601 provides a 64Mb program mode that allows users to create their own custom modes, including SDH or SONET mode.
These modes can be defined with PC-based software and can be stored on a flash card or transferred to a pulse pattern generator.
