Introducing the Finalists for the AEC Excellence Awards 2018

Impressive projects from around the world in the categories of Construction, Infrastructure Design, and Building Design

Autodesk, along with co-sponsors Construction Dive, HP, and Smart Cities Dive, is excited to announce the AEC Excellence Awards 2018 finalists! This year's competition highlights groundbreaking work across the architecture, engineering, and construction industries.

Now in its sixth year, the AEC Excellence Awards celebrates innovative projects that have embraced Connected BIM and cutting-edge technologies such as generative design and industrialized construction. These projects showcase how digital transformation is reshaping the way we build and design our world.

The awards are divided into three main categories: Infrastructure Design, Building Design, and Construction. Each category recognizes projects of various sizes—small, medium, and large. This year also features a new award, the “Innovator of the Year,” which honors an individual making a significant impact through technology, collaboration, and innovation in the AEC industry.

The video below offers a sneak peek at some of the incredible finalists, but you can explore the full list of entries at aecexcellence.com.

Evaluating all 256 submissions—including 196 project entries and 60 Innovator of the Year nominations—was no easy task for the independent, global panel of judges. The entries came from 32 countries, with China leading in total submissions, followed closely by the United States and France. This demonstrates the growing global interest in advancing construction and design through innovation.

“This year’s finalists are truly inspiring,” said Nicolas Mangon, Vice President of AEC Business Strategy and Marketing at Autodesk. “They represent the best in infrastructure, building design, and construction, regardless of scale. It's exciting to see how emerging technologies like collaboration tools, prefabrication, and design automation are transforming the industry. These projects aren’t just looking to the future—they’re shaping it today.”

The winners will be revealed at Autodesk University 2018 in Las Vegas on November 13 during the AEC Customer Showcase Celebration breakfast. Attendees will have the chance to celebrate the achievements of these outstanding professionals while hearing from industry leaders and experts. Registration is required, so make sure to mark your calendar and join us live from AU Las Vegas for the big announcement!
