This morning (9/30/20), emergency responders from Prospect Heights and Wheeling were dispatched to a severe car accident involving two vehicles near the intersection of Wolf and Palatine Roads. The collision actually happened further down the road, on Messner Drive close to the Chicago Executive Airport. Both vehicles had crashed through an outer fence, leaving one SUV overturned on its roof and a small box truck lying on its side near the edge of a taxiway.
Tragically, there were three people involved in the crash. Two were trapped inside their respective vehicles, while the third was ejected during the impact. That individual did not survive the incident. One of the other victims trapped inside also succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the third person suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital.
The severity of the crash is evident from the damage to the vehicles and the surrounding airport property. Local law enforcement and fire departments worked quickly to extricate the trapped individuals and secure the area.
