Established in December 1970, the Anguang Institute is located on Science Island, by the shores of Lushan Lake in the western suburbs of Hefei City, Anhui Province. Spectroscopy refers to the pattern formed when monochromatic light, dispersed by a system like a prism or grating, is arranged sequentially by wavelength (or frequency). The visible spectrum is a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can perceive. Electromagnetic radiation in this range is known as visible light. However, the spectrum does not include all colors the brain can distinguish, such as brown or pink. Spectroscopy plays a crucial role in fields like atmospheric trace gas detection, medical diagnostics, and industrial process control.
For the first time, researchers from the Anguang Institute, including Wang Guishi, applied a scanning frequency-locking method to stabilize the laser output frequency, effectively preventing frequency drift and enhancing system stability. Additionally, they monitored the amplitude of the non-absorptive section's modulated signal in real-time as a reference, enabling real-time correction of detected intensity fluctuations during measurements. This approach eliminates the impact of laser intensity variations on concentration measurement results, significantly improving both the stability and accuracy of the system.
This breakthrough holds great potential for enhancing spectrometer performance. The study was supported by key national research and development programs, including projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation.
