Increased vehicle usage with fully automatic gearbox
Garbage trucks work one shift per day, while half of the large road sweepers require two shifts to complete a busy and busy task, which inevitably depends on efficient vehicle usage.
According to Thomas Maas, director of service for SRH, Allison gearboxes reduce maintenance requirements. He said: "Daily maintenance only requires regular replacement of fluids and filters; we operate strictly according to Daimler's recommended replacement cycle."
Moreover, the use of Allison fully automatic transmissions completely avoids costly and time-consuming clutch changes. Maas explained: "In the nearly ten years of use cycle, each garbage truck needs to replace 2 to 3 clutches. Through the statistics of 210 vehicles, in about 10 years, about 420 to 630 clutches need to be replaced. That means using Allison fully automatic gearboxes, this cost and time can be saved."
Unlike conventional dry clutches, the Allison transmission's torque converter protects the entire driveline from shock and vibration. In addition, when starting without wear, the performance and maneuverability of the vehicle on a frequently-started and stopped road and a busy city road can be significantly improved.
