According to reports, from January to October, the nation’s total waterway transport volume reached 200 million passengers, passenger turnover was 6.17 billion person-km, cargo transport volume was 3.5 billion tons, and cargo turnover was 620.09 billion tons-km, an increase of 8.4%, 3.8%, and 15.3% respectively year-on-year. From January to October, the investment in fixed assets for transportation across the country totaled 1.1397 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%. According to reports, from January to October this year, the volume of goods handled by ports above designated size nationwide reached 7.546 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%. Among them, the foreign trade cargo throughput was 2.28 billion tons, an increase of 11.4% year-on-year; domestic trade cargo throughput was 5.266 billion tons, an increase of 14.6% year-on-year. The container throughput was 135 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%.
