Development and Reform Commission: Promoting the Reform of Resource Product Prices and Environmental Protection Charges
Peng Sen, the deputy director of the National Development and Reform Commission, emphasized at the National Bureau of Commodity Prices that the current domestic and international economic environment has become increasingly complex. In this context, the pricing authorities must prioritize maintaining steady and rapid economic growth, while effectively utilizing price mechanisms to drive development and promote structural adjustments. He called for the implementation of supportive pricing policies, the acceleration of burden reduction measures, and a stronger focus on easing the financial pressure on enterprises.
Additionally, he stressed the importance of improving the mechanism for agricultural product pricing to support the development of the agriculture sector. The reform of resource prices and environmental protection charges must be advanced without delay, as these are key components of broader economic restructuring efforts. At the same time, social stability remains a top priority, requiring careful monitoring and proactive management of price-related issues.
The National Bureau of Commodity Prices outlined seven key tasks for the coming year, all centered around the main goal of "maintaining steady and rapid economic development." These include strengthening and refining price control mechanisms, further improving pricing policies for agricultural products and resources, and actively advancing reforms in resource product prices and environmental charges. The bureau also plans to continue refining oil price and tax policies in a stable manner.
Efforts will also be made to reduce costs and lighten the burden on businesses, while ensuring that essential prices remain affordable for the public. Strengthening price supervision and conducting regular inspections will be crucial to maintaining market order. Finally, the bureau is committed to enhancing price-related public services and continuing its initiative to bring price assistance to 10,000 households across the country. These measures aim to ensure a more transparent, fair, and sustainable pricing system that supports long-term economic growth.
